Diecast LedgerCollection tracker & checklist
Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Diecast Ledger (“the app”) does with information about you. It is written from how the app is built. koykstudio publishes the app; “we” and “us” below means koykstudio.
The short version
- Some information leaves your device so the app can work. The table below lists all of it, why, and who receives it.
- You don’t need an account to use the app.
- The app shows no ads.
- The app does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
- We don’t sell your personal information.
Who we are
Diecast Ledger is made and published by koykstudio, an independent app studio. You can reach us at support@koykstudio.com.
What stays on your device
The collection and car photos (scan frames and photos the user adds) are stored only on the iPhone. CSV and PDF exports leave the device only through the share sheet when the user shares them.
- Scanning uses VisionKit live text recognition (DataScannerViewController) on the iPhone to read the toy number printed on the card.
- Toy-number lookup, search, checklists and versions come from a catalog bundled in the app (SQLite built from the wikis' CC BY-SA dumps).
- The collection (status, quantity, carded or loose, condition, notes, lists, prices, estimates) is stored with SwiftData on the iPhone, and insights are calculated locally.
- When an owned car is added from a scan and has no photo yet, a still frame from the scanner is saved as its photo in Application Support/Photos (JPEG, at most 1600 px). User photos picked with the system picker are stored the same way.
- CSV export and import and the PDF inventory are created and read on the iPhone.
Permissions the app asks for
iOS asks for your permission before the app can use these. You can change your answer at any time in the Settings app.
| Permission | What it’s used for | Needed? |
|---|---|---|
| Camera | Reads the number printed on the card so the app can find the car and show whether it's already owned. Asked the first time the user taps Scan; typing the toy number always works. | Optional |
| Photo library | Declared for adding the user's own car photos. The app uses the system PhotosPicker, which shares only the chosen photo without a library permission prompt. | Optional |
Information that leaves your device
| Information | Why | Who receives it | Linked to your identity? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Customer support (email address, message) | Answer your question. Only if you choose to email support@koykstudio.com from Settings; the email is sent from your own mail app. | koykstudio (support email) | Yes |
We don’t use this information to identify you, and we don’t combine it with information from other companies.
Services the app connects to
To work, the app requests information from these services. Like any internet request, each one reveals your device’s IP address to the service it contacts.
- Apple App Store (StoreKit 2): Product list, purchases, restores and entitlements for Pro (yearly, monthly, lifetime), and the system's rating prompt. The app makes no other network requests.
- eBay sold-listings search (opened in Safari): Only when the user taps Check sold prices: Safari opens an eBay search URL containing the car's name, year and toy number. No API, no affiliate tag.
- Hot Wheels Wiki and Matchbox Wiki on Fandom, GitHub catalog repo, Creative Commons licence page, koykstudio.com support and privacy pages, Apple's standard lice: Only when the user taps the matching link; standard browser request.
Purchases
Purchases are made through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment card or Apple Account details. The app checks with Apple which purchases you made so it can unlock them.
Crash reports and statistics from Apple
If you agreed to share analytics with app developers in your device’s settings, Apple gives us crash reports and statistics that don’t identify you. You can change this in Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements. Apple’s handling of this data is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
Tracking and advertising
The app does not track you, as Apple defines tracking: it does not link information from the app with information from other companies’ apps, websites or data brokers. It shows no advertising.
Children
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How long information is kept
Everything stays on the iPhone until the user removes cars, deletes photos or deletes the app. koykstudio receives nothing from the app; support emails are kept only as long as needed to answer.
Your choices and rights
- Deleting the app deletes the information it stores on your device.
- Depending on where you live (for example California and other US states), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy, to correct it, to delete it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We don’t sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- We will answer requests within the time the law requires and won’t treat you differently for asking.
Make a request on our data request page, or email support@koykstudio.com.
Security
We keep what the app handles to the minimum it needs and rely on the security built into iOS. No method is perfectly secure, but we take care to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
If the app’s handling of information changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will also tell you in the app.
