About ISS Finder
Do I have to share my location?
No. You can choose a place by name instead. If you allow location, it's used on your iPhone to work out the passes over you. The one exception: if you turn on Skip cloudy passes, your location is sent to Apple Weather to get the cloud forecast for pass times.
Do alerts work without a connection?
Yes. Passes are calculated on your iPhone and alerts are scheduled on it, so they arrive even when you're offline. The app refreshes the station's orbit data when it has a connection and plans the alerts again each time you open it.
Why didn't I get an alert for a pass?
Alerts follow your settings: the lowest rating you chose (Excellent, Good or better, or All visible), the minimum height, and Skip cloudy passes if it's on. Notifications also need to be allowed for ISS Finder in iOS Settings. Settings in the app shows how many alerts are scheduled.
How do I use the arrow and camera view?
Open Find it during a pass, or up to 15 minutes before one, and hold up your iPhone. Keep away from cars and metal, which upset the compass. If the arrow seems off, wave the phone in a figure 8, or use Settings › Compass check to compare it against something you can see, like the Moon.
Where does the data come from?
Orbit data comes from CelesTrak's public orbital elements. The list of people in space comes from The Space Devs. Cloud forecasts come from Apple Weather. The maths behind every pass runs on your iPhone.
Is ISS Finder made by a space agency?
No. ISS Finder is an independent app by koykstudio. It isn't made, sponsored or endorsed by any space agency.
Purchases and your data
How do I cancel a subscription?
Apple manages subscriptions. On your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Choose the app and tap Cancel Subscription. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for.
I paid, but the app doesn’t show my purchase.
Use Restore Purchases in the app, signed in with the same Apple Account you used to buy. If it still doesn’t appear, write to us with the date of the purchase (never send card details).
How do I get a refund?
Apple handles all payments, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves, but we’re happy to help if something isn’t working.
How do I delete my data?
Deleting the app removes what it stores on your iPhone. The privacy policy explains anything that leaves your phone; for a request about that, use our data request page.
